About us

The Academic Research group at Sprint creates technology advances that will improve the experience of our mobile and Internet users. Our research currently focuses on the following areas:

  • Data collection and data mining
  • Security
  • Wireless systems performance and applications

Our approach combines a strong presence in the academic community through university collaborations and publications in the top journals and conferences (IEEE/ACM Transactions on Networking, ACM Sigcomm, ACM Mobicom,...), with focused technology transfer internally at Sprint and with outside vendors and partners.

Specific projects include the following
  • Data collection and data mining
    • IP and wireless monitoring
    • Graph and tensor mining
    • Economics of networked data
  • Security
    • Traffic profiling
    • Worm and anomaly detection
    • Sampling and sketching
    • Hybrid IP/cellular attacks and mitigation
    • Economics of security
  • Wireless systems performance and applications
    • Cross-layer measurements
    • Cross-layer performance optimization

Refer to the publications for detailed descriptions and results obtained, or contact the appropriate researchers if you have any question. Contact Jean Bolot if you are interested in an internship or sabbatical at Sprint Labs.
